Camp Henry is a summer camp program located in scenic western North Carolina at the Lake Logan Episcopal Center. 450-500 children and youth, grades K-12, from a wide variety of backgrounds experience fun, community, and growth in a spiritually uplifting environment with half week, week, and 2 week programs. One of our most popular programs is the Camp Henry Outdoor School, or CHOS. This is a wilderness expedition and leadership program for middle school and high school youth with a focus on faith and spirituality.  Participants learn to plan for and travel safely and enjoyably in a wilderness setting before embarking on 2-3 night expedition into the wild.  Each CHOS group will spend a day rock climbing, a day whitewater rafting, and a multiple day backpacking trip.  We are seeking motivated, qualified, and responsible instructors for the summer.  CHOS instructors should have training and/or experience leading groups in a wilderness setting and must be 18 years or older by June 15, 2019 (21 or older strongly preferred).  Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork are a must.  A passion for and care of the wilderness is also a must.   Wilderness First Responder certification is mandatory; Camp Henry will pay/reimburse staff up to half the cost of this training if hired.  This is a very popular program, and the expectation of CHOS Instructors is high; your compensation reflects this.

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

Greetings! I am Jenna Sharrits, and I am extremely excited to serve as the Assistant Director once again!! I will be graduating from the University of North Carolina Asheville this May. Where I majored in Health and Wellness Promotion with a minor in Religious Studies and was the President for the Episcopal campus ministry at UNCA. I am currently the Youth Director at St. James Episcopal Church Black Mountain and enjoy working with kids! Some interesting facts about me include my favorite animal is a raccoon, I have run 5 half marathons (and counting), I enjoy matching and laughing with others, and lastly I would give my life for Camp Henry! I can’t wait to share a magical and fun summer with you at Camp!

DIRECTOR

Hi! My name is Kathryn Florack. I am completely grateful and happy to continue my third year as the Camp Henry Director! I graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2010 and was blessed to spend the next few years working and exploring around the US. More recently, for roughly two years, I was the youth director at Ascension in Hickory, NC. When I’m not hanging out with my family or playing Pocahontas (which involves running in the woods while singing ‘Just Around the Riverbend’), I focus on my big goals of saving the world and finding stardom on ‘Survivor’ and ‘Dancing with the Stars.’ Other interests include travel, friends and family, snowboarding, music, exclamation points, the enneagram, ultimate frisbee, push-ups, and being outside as much as possible. None of this would have been possible without Camp Henry and Lake Logan; I have had the unbelievable fortune of attending Camp Henry ever since I was eleven years old, and after many years, being a camper, counselor, associate director, I am so very honored and excited to continue this journey. Before I became the Director of Camp Henry, I also had the wonderful opportunity to work on the Conference Center side, working at Lake Logan during the non-summer months, which allowed me to share the spiritually “thin” place with people of all ages while enjoying the amazing property year round. This is a place that teaches you how to laugh so hard you cry, about the power of unconditional love, how to make friendships that last a lifetime, about the consequences of singing and playing all day, about the wonder of God, and how to appreciate all the beauty that life has to offer. Thank you so much for welcoming me into your community. I can’t wait for you to join us! I look forward to going on this beautiful adventure with you all!
